Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) explore the application of Western music techniques in Isan folk music, and 2) develop a music performance management process using Isan folk music integrated with Western music techniques. The study employed qualitative research methods. The findings revealed that the soprano saxophone was used to play the main melody, imitating techniques such as grace notes and intervals. The alto and soprano saxophones performed the melody and harmonized it, while the tenor and baritone saxophones supported the bass section. In terms of performance management, the creative works developed for research dissemination involved a rehearsal process and quality improvement of the music before performances. Regarding the evaluation of musical quality, high levels of satisfaction were observed in musical structure, harmony, and emotional expression. The integration of Western music techniques with Isan folk music modernized the traditional music, making it more appealing to contemporary audiences.
